It was social media frenzy launched against a local dog owner.

The Izard County Sheriff’s Office has addressed social media posts targeting a pet dog owner in Oxford, Arkansas. The posts on social media told people to report a local pet dog owner to police, alleging animal neglect.

Previous Investigations Clear Owner

According to Izard County Sheriff’s Office, deputies had already investigated prior complaints, finding the animals had adequate shelter and care.

After reviewing the case, the prosecutor’s office decided no charges were warranted against the pet owner.

These findings were established days before the recent social media campaign began. Multiple posts had allegedly been made on social media telling people to call the police on the pet owner.

The Sheriff’s Office acted on earlier reports, concluding the matter before it became a public issue online.
