“USB” Cables Being Sent To People To Infect Computers

What to Watch For: Unsolicited USB cables arriving at your home that you didn’t order. Also, look out for packages with scant sender information.

According to the Russellville Police Department:

“The Russellville Police Department would like to warn the community about a potential malware scam involving unsolicited USB cables being sent to individuals’ homes. These cables appear to be ordinary, but they could contain hidden malware capable of compromising your devices and personal information.”

Do not use or connect these suspicious cables to any devices. Instead, immediately report the incident to the Russellville Police Department.

Criminals are using increasingly sophisticated methods to infiltrate personal devices. Staying informed and cautious is key to community safety.

The Russellville Police urge residents to be vigilant, as these deceptive cables could compromise personal data if connected.
