As temperatures plummet in Conway, Arkansas, the city has publicly announced that it is activating warming centers to protect residents. Three locations will serve as havens during this cold spell: Don Owen Sports Center, McGee Center, and Conway Emergency Shelter.
Special “Warming Centers” Launched In Conway Ahead Of Weather Change
Don Owen Sports Center at 10 Lower Ridge Rd will be open 24/7 starting January 5, with a check-in cutoff at 9:00 p.m. for overnight stays. No pets are allowed at this facility.
The McGee Center, located at 3800 College Ave, will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. weekdays and 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sundays, but will be closed on Martin Luther King Jr Day. Pets are not permitted here either.
At 1116 Gum St, the Conway Emergency Shelter offers overnight stays with check-ins between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., catering to individuals 18 years and older on a first-come, first-served basis.
Residents are urged to inform their networks about these facilities and ensure everyone has a warm place to go.
