It should go without saying that if you are seriously trying to contact law enforcement in an emergency, don’t use social media to do it.

If you use social media platforms like Facebook, your messages might go unread completely.

Miller County Sheriffs Office in Arkansas issued a warning that Facebook messages might not be the best way to get ahold of their office. Apparently, people have been sending them private messages and they have been going unread.

Facebook Messages Not Being Checked By Law Enforcement

It should go without saying, if you are trying to get ahold of law enforcement, don’t send social media messages.

According to Miller County Sheriff’s Office:

“Messages sent to our Facebook page are not monitored. PLEASE DO NOT UTILIZE Facebook Messenger as a means of communication for matters that need to be addressed with a Deputy. If it is an emergency, please call 9-1-1. If it is not an emergency, please call 870-774-3001, option 2 for Dispatch.”

Unless your local police department or sheriff’s office has 24/7 monitoring of social media, call them directly.
