11-Year-Old’s Shooter’s Accident Described

An internal email from the library in Little Rock was released to the public after the shooting happened on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, the child accused of the shooting had not only shot his father but may have had a gun when he entered the children’s library. For context, the child was only 11-years-old.

The internal email was released to CALS employees, saying that two children were in the car with an adult when a gun went off.

After a gun went off, a child exited the car, according to a witness. The child then went into the library with his sister and interacted with library staff, asking them to call 911.

According to staff, the child may have still had the gun when he entered the Clinton library:

“A staff member thought that the gun was in the kid’s pocket when they entered the library. They walked the kid away from the building and other people. The gun was later confiscated by the paramedics. The kid was not brandishing or holding the weapon.”

The father sustained life-threatening injuries and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital.
