A 53-year-old woman from Mountain Home has been arrested for allegedly stealing over $39,000 from a Casey’s store where she worked. Susan Marie Smith, the store’s manager on Highway 62, was responsible for making deposits.
However, the company’s asset protection manager discovered discrepancies in the deposit amounts, totaling $39,452. The reported deposits were for earnings several days prior, sometimes up to nine days, resulting in a missing amount of $39,452.
Smith, charged with theft of property, quit her job and is out on a $10,000 bond. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of financial integrity in all aspects of work.
