The Harlequin Theatre troupe at Lyon College, the oldest collegiate theatre organization in Arkansas, will present William Inge’s “Bus Stop” April 18-21 in the Holloway Theatre on the Lyon College campus, 2300 Highland Rd., Batesville.
Written in 1955, the romantic comedy follows a group of strangers who find themselves stranded together overnight following a blizzard. Produced on Broadway, it received four Tony Award nominations in 1956. It also received major revivals in the United States and United Kingdom in 2010 and 2011.
“Bus Stop” was adapted as a 1956 film of the same name, directed by Joshua Logan and starring Marilyn Monroe and Don Murray.
Directed by Lyon College Associate Professor and Director of Theatre Dr. Fonzie D. Geary II, cast members include Kenzi Tosh as Elma, Lillie Hall as Grace, Luke Bridges as Will, Isabella Beasley as Cherie, Weston Derden as Dr. Gerald Lyman, Wyatt Treadway as Carl, Liam Selhorst as Bo and Kyle Denison as Virgil. Lawson Stockton is the stage manager.
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, April 18-20, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 21. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens and students. Admission is free for anyone with a Lyon College ID.
