Beware of “Apple Security Alert” text messages.
Residents in Arkansas are receiving text messages claiming to represent Apple. They’re a trick to steal user information.
Phishing Scam Revealed
The following messages are being sent to residents in Arkansas. We have redacted emails and phone numbers to prevent readers from getting scammed:
“[Apple Security Alert] We have noticed that your Apple id was recently used at “APPLE STORE” for $143.95, paid by Apple Pay Pre Authorization. Also some suspicious sign in request and apple pay activation request detected. That looks like suspicious to us. In order to maintain the security and privacy of your account we have placed those request on hold. If NOT you? Please Call [REDACTED PHONE NUMBER] to talk to an Apple Representative. Failing may lead to auto debit and charge will not be reversed. Call [REDACTED PHONE NUMBER] immediately to cancel this charge. Customer Support: [REDACTED PHONE NUMBER] Billing Support : www.[Redacted Link] Have a great day!”
The give away to text messages like this is that they come from email addresses not associated with Apple. In this case, the text message came from a hotmail address sent via SMS.

Do Due Diligence
If someone is contacting you asking you to pay money, you should obviously be careful.
Look up the phone number on Google. Check the email addresses to see if they are from free providers like Gmail or Hotmail. If so, it means it’s a scam.
