Trial Date Set for Andrew McGann in Devil’s Den State Park Capital Murder Case

A Washington County judge has scheduled the capital murder trial for, the man accused of fatally stabbing Clinton and Cristen Brink while they were hiking at Devil’s Den State Park.

According to court records, McGann’s jury trial is scheduled to begin March 29, 2027, and is expected to continue through April 14, 2027.

McGann, 29, has pleaded not guilty to 2 counts of capital murder in connection with the July 26, 2025, deaths of the Brink couple.

Arkansas State Police have said McGann later confessed to the killings and that DNA recovered from the crime scene matched him. Investigators have described the attack as random.

Authorities say the Brinks were hiking with their 2 daughters when the attack occurred. The children were not physically injured.

Following a 5-day statewide search, Arkansas State Police arrested McGann in Springdale while he was getting a haircut. Investigators reported finding cuts on his hands and what appeared to be blood inside his vehicle.

McGann remains held without bond in the Washington County Detention Center.

Prosecutors have announced they are seeking the death penalty if McGann is convicted.

McGann is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
