The Independence County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday, March 1, 2026, at a residence on Lindsey Circle.
Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 1:27 p.m. after receiving a report of a male subject who had been shot.
Upon arrival, deputies located a male victim who was being treated by an off-duty officer. The victim was transported to a local hospital for further medical care. Authorities have not released information regarding his current condition.
Investigators identified a person of interest, who was later located and taken into custody. Officials have determined the incident to be isolated and confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the community.
