Former Sharp County Sheriff and veteran law enforcement officer Dale Weaver passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026, following a career that spanned more than four decades in Arkansas law enforcement.

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Weaver’s death and described him as a fierce friend to the community. At the time of his passing, he was serving as a detective with the department.
Weaver’s career included service as Sharp County Sheriff, commander of the 16th Judicial Drug Task Force, and investigator with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. Colleagues say he built a reputation for persistence, professionalism, and dedication to public safety.
In his later years, Weaver became especially well known for his cold case work. In 2024, he was honored by the Arkansas House of Representatives after solving his third decades-old murder case within just a few years — bringing long-awaited answers to families and communities.
ArkansasRadio.com General Manager and Owner Bob Connell also reflected on Weaver’s personal impact and mentorship.
Connell said, “Dale Weaver was an amazing mentor to me during my early years in Cave City. When he was Police Chief and I was working at the Cave City Community Center in the early ’80s, he always treated me with respect and encouragement. People often talk about his soft-spoken voice — that’s exactly how I remember him. He was a true gentleman and a gentle giant. He will be deeply missed. Pamela and I — our prayers are with his brother Gale and the entire family.”
Law enforcement partners across the region say Weaver’s legacy will live on through the cases he solved and the officers he mentored. Formal funeral arrangements are pending.
