U.S. Senators John Boozman, Tom Cotton, and Tim Scott have introduced a resolution designating January 25–31, 2026, as National School Choice Week, recognizing efforts to expand educational options and empower parents nationwide.

Senator Boozman said providing families with greater flexibility in choosing the best learning environment can have life-changing impacts. He noted Arkansas has emerged as a leader in educational freedom, including the adoption of a school choice federal tax credit scholarship program as part of the Working Families Tax Cuts.
Senator Cotton emphasized that parents know what is best for their children and said the resolution recognizes the ability of families to choose educational opportunities that align with their children’s learning styles and values.
Senator Scott described National School Choice Week as a celebration of opportunity and a reminder that education is not a one-size-fits-all system. He said his own educational experiences demonstrated the importance of empowering parents to choose quality education and access strong teachers and mentors.
National School Choice Week, now in its 16th year, highlights schools and programs offering alternatives to traditional public education while supporting families seeking the best academic opportunities for their children.
In Arkansas, Sarah Huckabee Sanders recently announced the state will participate beginning next year in a nonrefundable federal tax credit for cash contributions to Scholarship Granting Organizations. The program will provide scholarships for elementary and secondary education expenses, with individual taxpayers eligible for up to $1,700 in annual credits.
The resolution is co-sponsored by more than 30 U.S. Senators from across the country, reflecting broad support for expanding educational choice and recognizing the importance of parental involvement in education.
