Arkansas State Offices to Close Monday as Winter Storm Impacts Road Conditions

, , Leave a comment

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has ordered all Arkansas state office buildings closed on Monday, January 26, 2026, except for critical operations, due to the ongoing winter storm and its continued impact on road conditions statewide.

The closure is intended to protect the safety of state employees and the public as hazardous travel conditions persist across much of Arkansas.

State employees who are able to telework are encouraged to do so. Agencies are also authorized to implement liberal leave policies for employees who cannot work remotely because of weather-related conditions.

Officials are asking residents to stay off the roads unless they are essential workers. Anyone with scheduled appointments is encouraged to call ahead before traveling to confirm whether offices are open or services are available.

Arkansas State University–Beebe has also announced campus closures due to the weather, Public Schools will be closed and families are encouraged to check directly with other schools and campuses before traveling.

Motorists are reminded that snow, ice, and extreme cold can create rapidly changing road conditions, especially on bridges, overpasses, and shaded areas.

Residents should continue monitoring official state and local sources for updated closure information, travel advisories, and emergency announcements as the winter storm continues.
