Utility officials say restoring power safely and as quickly as possible remains their top priority. However, restoration during extreme cold can take longer due to increased demand on electrical systems, hazardous road conditions, and challenging weather for repair crews.

In many areas, utility trucks are working closely behind state snow removal equipment to access downed power lines and damaged infrastructure as roads are cleared.

Customers are encouraged to prepare their homes now in case outages occur. If power is lost, residents should unplug electric heaters and major appliances until service is restored to prevent electrical surges and reduce fire risk.

Officials also recommend keeping flashlights, batteries, blankets, bottled water, and fully charged phones available. Those who rely on medical equipment should have backup power plans in place.

Residents are urged to monitor updates from their local power provider and stay informed through trusted local news outlets during severe weather conditions.
