Cushman will celebrate its manganese mining heritage with a day of free activities during the annual Miners Day celebration on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The Independence County community’s celebration begins with a parade at 10:30 a.m. Live music, vendors and family activities will follow from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Visitors can enjoy food trucks, crafts, giveaways, raffles and activities for children throughout the daytime celebration.
The festivities continue that evening with a street dance beginning at 7:00 p.m. The nighttime lineup includes more music, food, shaved ice and a mechanical bull.
Miners Day has grown steadily, attracting nearly 3,000 people in recent years. The annual gathering brings residents and visitors together while recognizing the mining history that helped shape Cushman.
The community developed as a center of Arkansas’ Batesville Manganese District, with mining continuing in the area until 1959.
Today, Miners Day celebrates that heritage through a community gathering filled with music, family activities and opportunities to connect with neighbors.
