The Rogers Fire Department battled two grass fires near the bike trail on Monday night and Tuesday afternoon, identifying fireworks debris as the likely cause and reminding the public of the burn ban.
Two Grass Fires Linked to Fireworks Debris
The department responded to a grass fire on Monday night near the bike trail that runs between Bekaert Drive and West Easy Street. Firefighters quickly contained the blaze and prevented it from spreading.
A second grass fire ignited on Tuesday afternoon in the same vicinity. Crews again arrived promptly and were able to bring the fire under control.
Investigation at both sites uncovered fireworks debris, suggesting the fires were sparked by discarded fireworks. No injuries have been reported and the exact cause beyond the debris is not yet known.
