A 4-year-old child has died following a residential fire late Sunday night on Elliot Lane near Conway, prompting a joint investigation by the Arkansas State Police and Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the home during the late-night hours of Sunday, July 26. Dispatch recordings from the response indicated that firefighters searched the residence after arriving at the scene.
Authorities later confirmed that a 4-year-old child died as a result of the fire. The child’s identity has not been publicly released.
Officials have not announced whether anyone else was inside the residence or whether any additional injuries were reported.

The emergency response involved numerous fire, police, medical and emergency management agencies from across Faulkner County.

Cause Has Not Been Determined
Arkansas State Police is leading the investigation into the fatal fire and will work jointly with the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities have described the investigation as an arson investigation. However, investigators have emphasized that it remains too early to determine how the fire started.
The use of arson investigators does not mean authorities have determined that the fire was intentionally set. Fire investigators are responsible for examining fatal and suspicious fires to determine their origin and cause.
No arrests have been announced, and authorities have not identified any suspects or persons of interest.
