The Heber Springs Fire Department stayed busy over the weekend, responding to 2 separate fires along with several medical emergencies and a single-vehicle rollover accident.

The first call came at approximately 1:52 p.m. when firefighters were dispatched to a boat fire in the Middle Fork area of Greers Ferry Lake. Boat 1 responded with assistance from the Greers Ferry Fire Department, Arkansas Game and Fish, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Cleburne County Office of Emergency Management. Cleanup and recovery efforts were later coordinated by Cleburne County OEM.
Fortunately, everyone aboard the boat escaped safely, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Later that evening at approximately 6:50 p.m., firefighters responded to a residential structure fire on Front Street. A passerby alerted the home’s occupants, and the homeowner was able to keep the fire contained until Engine 1, Engine 2, Utility 1 and additional off-duty firefighters arrived.
No injuries were reported, and officials said damage to the home was minimal.
In addition to the 2 fires, the department also responded to several medical emergencies and a single-vehicle rollover accident during the weekend.
