, , Leave a comment

The Arkansas Insurance Department is warning Arkansans to stay alert for Medicare fraud scams targeting senior adults and families across the state.

According to officials, more than $100 billion is lost nationwide each year because of Medicare fraud and abuse.

The Arkansas Insurance Department’s Senior Medicare Patrol is encouraging seniors to protect their Medicare information and carefully review their Medicare statements for suspicious activity.

Officials say individuals should never provide Medicare information over the phone to unknown callers.

The department also encourages Arkansans to watch for medical services billed that were never received or repeated charges for the same service.

The Senior Medicare Patrol says reporting suspicious activity can help stop fraud and protect taxpayer-funded healthcare programs.
