An officer involved shooting is under investigation following an early morning standoff with an armed suspect outside Bald Knob.

Deputies were called around 6:00 a.m. on March 27, 2025, to 103 Hamrick Road regarding a suspect with felony warrants for aggravated assault and threatening.

Authorities say the suspect was found inside a disabled vehicle while armed with a pistol. A negotiator and Special Response Team were dispatched to the scene.

During negotiations, the suspect reportedly stated law enforcement would have to kill him before communication stopped. After additional attempts, officers deployed irritant gas.

The suspect exited the vehicle armed, refused commands, and was struck by a 40mm impact round before fleeing toward a wooded area while waving a pistol. A K-9 was deployed and engaged the suspect.

Officials say the suspect fired, striking the K-9 in the head. Deputies then shot the suspect.

The K-9 was treated in Searcy Arkansas and is expected to recover. The suspect was transported to Unity Health in Searcy Arkansas and later transferred to Little Rock Arkansas for further treatment.

The Arkansas State Police has been requested to investigate the shooting. Additional charges are pending.
