A Sherwood man has been sentenced to 350 months — more than 29 years — in federal prison for production of child pornography.

Jonathan D. Ross, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas, announced that 27-year-old Giovanni Ibarra was sentenced on February 12, 2026, by United States District Judge James M. Moody, Jr. In addition to the prison term, Ibarra will serve 10 years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.

Ibarra was indicted by a federal grand jury on October 9, 2024, on two counts of production of child pornography and three counts of distribution and attempted distribution. On July 28, 2025, he pleaded guilty to production of child pornography.

The investigation began after a CyberTipline Report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children was received by the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office in September 2024. The report referenced video files uploaded to a social media platform in May and June 2024.

Authorities traced the uploads to a Sherwood residence. During the investigation, agents identified Ibarra as a suspect and later confirmed his involvement. According to court records, Ibarra admitted to uploading the videos and acknowledged knowing the content was wrong.

“This sentence serves as a warning that if you commit heinous acts against children, our office will seek to have you sent to federal prison for the greatest length of time as the law will allow,” Ross said.

The case was investigated by the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and the United States Postal Inspection Service as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child exploitation. Assistant United States Attorney Kristin Bryant prosecuted the case.

Parents are encouraged to monitor their children’s online activity and report suspicious behavior to law enforcement.
