A Kansas murder suspect was arrested Tuesday afternoon during a traffic stop in Clinton.

According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department, deputies assisted an Arkansas State Police trooper with a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 65 near Ozark Health in Clinton.

Authorities say 29-year-old Joshua Paul Pourciau of Winfield, Kansas, was taken into custody. Officials confirmed Pourciau is wanted for an out-of-state murder in connection with a December 21 shooting at an apartment complex in Winfield, Kansas.

News sources in Kansas report an alleged accomplice was arrested in January and charged with attempted first-degree murder in the case.

Pourciau is currently being held in the Van Buren County Detention Center and is listed as “on hold for other agencies” pending extradition.

Authorities also report he was allegedly in possession of a firearm, an illegal substance, and drug paraphernalia at the time of his arrest.

The investigation remains ongoing.
