Grant Hardin has pleaded guilty to second-degree escape in Izard County Circuit Court and was sentenced Tuesday morning to an additional 13 years in prison.

The sentence will run consecutively to the 80-year term Hardin was already serving for rape and murder.

Hardin escaped in May 2025 from the Arkansas Department of Corrections North Central Unit in Calico Rock. Authorities captured him nearly two weeks later along Moccasin Creek, about a mile and a half west of the prison.

Hardin previously served as police chief of Gateway in northwest Arkansas for five months before resigning. He was sentenced to 30 years for murder in 2017 and 50 years for rape in 2019.

His crimes were later featured in the 2023 television special Devil in the Ozarks.
