Batesville Police Department officials have released a statement addressing social media misinformation following the execution of a court-authorized search warrant tied to a child exploitation investigation.

Authorities say that on Thursday, February 12, 2026, officers acted on information provided by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and conducted a search at a residence in Batesville. The warrant is connected to an ongoing investigation involving alleged sex crimes against a child.

During the operation, multiple individuals were detained and interviewed. Investigators seized evidence in accordance with the court order. The search was conducted with assistance from the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force.

At this time, no arrests have been announced. Officials say collected evidence will be submitted to the 16th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review, and charges are anticipated.

Law enforcement also urged residents to use caution when sharing information online, noting that unverified social media reports can be inaccurate and may create unnecessary public concern.
