The Arkansas250 Commission will dedicate a new historical marker at the Daisy Bates House National Historic Landmark honoring civil rights leader Daisy Bates and her role in the 1957 school desegregation crisis.

The unveiling ceremony is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the Daisy Bates House, located at 1207 West 28th Street in Little Rock. The marker is the second of eleven planned across Arkansas over the next year as part of the state’s 250th anniversary of American independence commemoration.

Commission officials say each marker recognizes locations and events judged among the most significant in Arkansas’s past 250 years. Bates played a central role in supporting the Little Rock Nine during the integration of Central High School.

The Arkansas250 initiative operates through Arkansas Heritage, a division of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism, which oversees multiple state cultural and historical agencies.
