Arkansas State Police released a statement regarding a tactical vehicle intervention conducted on 2-20-2026 on Interstate 630 in downtown Little Rock.

According to officials, at approximately 8:28 AM, an Arkansas State Police Trooper initiated a traffic stop after a vehicle failed to pull over. The Trooper then performed a tactical vehicle intervention (TVI) maneuver.

Authorities later determined that a child inside the vehicle was experiencing a medical emergency and that the driver, a parent, was attempting to transport the child to a nearby hospital. The Trooper was unaware of the medical situation at the time of the stop.

No injuries were reported.

The Trooper immediately requested medical assistance, and an ambulance transported the child to the hospital for treatment.

Investigation Underway

The Arkansas State Police Office of Professional Standards Division has opened an internal investigation into the incident.

ASP Director Col. Mike Hagar issued the following statement:

“Knowing all that we do now, we agree with the prosecutor’s decision to drop all charges against the driver. This incident underscores the importance of communication when it is necessary to transport someone having a medical emergency in a private vehicle, which occurs with regularity across Arkansas.”

Officials emphasized the importance of clear communication during traffic stops, especially in emergency medical situations.

The investigation remains ongoing.
