Arkansans Can Now Get REAL ID at Any Revenue Office as TSA Deadline Approaches

Arkansans can now obtain a REAL ID at any of the state’s more than 130 Revenue Offices with no wait required, according to The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration.

State officials say the expanded access comes as the Transportation Security Administration begins enforcing REAL ID requirements for air travel starting February 1. Travelers 18 and older who attempt to board a commercial flight without a REAL ID will be charged a $45 fee. An active U.S. passport will also be accepted for domestic air travel.

Arkansas residents can upgrade to a REAL ID by transferring the expiration date from their current license for $10, or they may purchase a full eight-year REAL ID for $40. Since 2016, the state has issued approximately 1.2 million REAL IDs, while about 1.7 million Arkansans still use a standard driver’s license or identification card.

To obtain a REAL ID, applicants must provide documentation showing legal presence, identity, Social Security number, and Arkansas residency. Officials say appointments can be scheduled online to avoid waiting, with an agent available at the scheduled time.

A complete list of Revenue Office locations and required documents is available through The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration website or the AR MyDMV portal.
