The National Weather Service has canceled the Winter Storm Warning for Arkansas as the threat of winter storm precipitation has ended. However, officials caution that dangerous cold conditions remain a serious concern across the state.

An Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect statewide through Tuesday midday, with forecasters warning of dangerously low temperatures and life-threatening wind chill values — especially during the overnight and early morning hours.

Meteorologists urge residents to take precautions to protect themselves, pets, livestock, and property. Prolonged exposure to extreme cold can lead to frostbite and hypothermia in a matter of minutes. Residents are encouraged to limit time outdoors, dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and ensure adequate heating indoors.

Officials also remind residents to safely use space heaters, avoid overloaded electrical outlets, and keep heating devices away from flammable materials. Pipes should be protected from freezing, and generators should never be operated indoors.

Drivers are urged to remain cautious, as lingering moisture on roadways may refreeze during overnight hours, creating slick travel conditions even after snowfall has ended.

Emergency managers continue to monitor conditions and encourage the public to stay connected to trusted local weather sources for updated alerts and safety guidance.
