The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management’s State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) remains activated as response and recovery efforts continue following the winter storm that moved across Arkansas late last week.

State officials have confirmed two fatalities connected to storm-related incidents. One involved a 40-year-old male in an ATV accident near Hope, and the second involved a 17-year-old male in Saline County, also related to an ATV crash. In addition, eight injuries have been reported statewide, including three in Columbia County, one in Cleburne County, and four in Saline County.
Ahead of the storm, a total of 27 counties declared local emergencies in anticipation of snow, ice, and dangerously cold temperatures. The SEOC continues coordinating closely with county emergency managers, local officials, and partner agencies to assess damage, support ongoing response operations, and prioritize public safety.
Preliminary assessments indicate multiple damaged or collapsed structures caused by heavy ice accumulation and prolonged freezing conditions. Reported damage includes marinas, agricultural facilities, and commercial and government buildings. Emergency management staff are compiling impact reports and working with affected counties to verify damages and determine next steps for potential disaster assistance.
The SEOC continues to coordinate with The Arkansas Department of Transportation, Arkansas State Police, the Arkansas Department of Health, and local emergency management offices to address immediate hazards and maintain critical services. Officials urge residents to avoid unnecessary travel and to report structural damage to their county emergency management office.
State officials say additional updates will be released as new information becomes available.
