The Riverview School District has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Arkansas Community Foundation to support its early literacy initiatives aimed at improving student reading scores and expanding classroom curriculum resources.
District leaders say the funding will be used to purchase new instructional materials and strengthen literacy programming for young learners, helping students build strong reading foundations.
Denise Eaves, executive director of the White County Community Foundation, said early literacy remains a major priority for the foundation as it works to support school districts and nonprofit organizations across the region.
“We have a huge push to assist school districts and nonprofits that are addressing early literacy,” Eaves said.
Riverview Assistant Superintendent Susan Blockburger formally accepted the grant check on behalf of the district.
School officials say the investment will allow Riverview educators to enhance classroom instruction, provide updated curriculum tools, and continue working toward higher literacy achievement for students.
Community leaders emphasize that early literacy plays a critical role in long-term academic success and workforce readiness.
