Fire crews were dispatched at approximately 6:23 p.m. on January 20, 2026, and personnel arrived on scene within minutes. Engines 1, 2, and 3, along with Brush Trucks 1 and 3 and a rescue unit, responded with approximately 18 firefighters. A water supply was quickly established as crews worked to contain the blaze.

Fire officials reported that fireworks going off in the area hindered suppression efforts during the incident. Two photos documenting the fireworks activity were provided by a social media follower.

The residence was declared a total loss. However, a neighboring home sustained only minor heat damage to exterior siding. The family’s cat was located later in the evening and was found alive and well.

Firefighters remained on scene until approximately 12:00 a.m. to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and the area was safe.

The Mountain View Fire Department is asking the public not to enter the property at the request of the homeowner. Community members are also encouraged to keep the George family in their thoughts and prayers following the loss.
