A motion has been filed in Independence County Circuit Court seeking to reopen a child support case involving Hunter Biden, the son of former President Joe Biden.

Court documents show Lunden Roberts filed the motion on January 13, asking a judge to reopen the case and hold Biden in contempt. Roberts is the mother of Biden’s 7-year-old daughter and is seeking increased child support.

According to the filing, Biden’s child support obligation was reduced in 2023. As part of that agreement, he was ordered to provide a specified number of paintings he created to his daughter. The motion alleges Biden has failed to fulfill that requirement and has not provided financial support comparable to what he reportedly provides to his other children.

The motion also claims the child had developed a relationship with Biden through scheduled calls but that he stopped communicating in 2024, which Roberts alleges caused emotional harm.

Court records state Roberts is asking the court to increase Biden’s child support payments and enforce previous court orders. The motion requests that Biden be held in contempt and potentially incarcerated at the Independence County Detention Center, or face other sanctions.

The case was originally filed in 2019, when a DNA test established Biden’s paternity.

No court ruling has yet been issued on the motion.
