January Is Human Trafficking Prevention Month: ARDOT Emphasizes Awareness

January is Human Trafficking Prevention Month, and the Arkansas Department of Transportation is emphasizing the importance of awareness, education, and vigilance to help protect Arkansas communities.

Throughout the month, ARDOT is committed to sharing educational resources across its social media platforms, hosting Lunch & Learn sessions for employees, and teaching staff how to recognize the warning signs of human trafficking. Officials say increased awareness can empower individuals to take action and potentially save lives.

Transportation workers often serve on the front lines of travel corridors, making awareness especially important. ARDOT officials stress that recognizing suspicious behavior and trusting instincts are key steps in prevention.

“If something feels off, trust your instincts,” officials encourage. “Staying informed and alert helps keep our communities safe.”

Anyone who suspects human trafficking is urged to report it immediately by calling the Arkansas Human Trafficking Hotline at 501-618-8001.
