Cave City Mayor Jonas Anderson is offering a heartfelt thank-you to reporters and broadcasters across Arkansas, saying local journalism plays a vital role in keeping small towns informed, connected, and engaged — especially following natural disasters.

Mayor Anderson said strong relationships between local governments and news organizations are critical for rural communities that may not always receive consistent coverage. He also credited media outlets for helping share Cave City’s recovery story after the March 14 tornado.

Mayor Jonas Anderson: “I really wanted to reach out at the first of the year and thank everybody on the news front. We’ve got a lot of partners and friends in media outlets across the state. The relationship that cities and local governments have with local media is so important for keeping people involved and engaged in their communities, especially small rural towns. And I really want to thank everyone for the tornado coverage — it helped tell our story and contributed to the recovery we’ve already seen and the recovery we’re going to see in 2026.”

The mayor said Cave City continues rebuilding with optimism and determination and looks ahead to a strong year for the community and its local partners.

Bob Connell, owner of ArkansasRadio.com radio stations and a graduate of Cave City High School, also shared his pride in the community’s response following the storm.

Bob Connell: “‘Cave City Strong’ has taken on a whole new meaning for me. I am incredibly proud of the resilience of the people of Cave City. Even while facing their own challenges, they became a beacon of hope for other communities affected by the March tornado, stepping up to help neighbors in need. That says everything about the heart of this town.”

Connell also praised his news teams across the ArkansasRadio.com and Freedom Broadcasting stations for their dedication to covering recovery efforts and sharing stories of community strength throughout the region.
