Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has ordered Arkansas state office buildings to remain closed Wednesday, January 28, 2026, except for critical operations, due to ongoing impacts from the recent winter storm and hazardous road conditions.

State officials say the closure is intended to protect employee safety while allowing essential government services to continue operating.

Employees who are able to telework are encouraged to do so, while agencies may implement liberal leave policies for employees whose job duties cannot be performed remotely.

The governor’s office noted that road conditions remain a concern in many areas of the state as lingering snow and ice continue to create travel hazards.

Residents are encouraged to limit unnecessary travel, remain alert for changing weather conditions, and follow guidance from local and state authorities.

Additional updates regarding state operations will be released as conditions improve.
