The 22nd annual Chunky Dunk tradition on New Year’s Day drew a large crowd to the swim area at Fairfield Bay Marina, where spectators gathered to watch a dozen brave participants plunge into the chilly waters of Greers Ferry Lake.
With clear skies and ideal winter weather, the New Year’s Day event continued a beloved Fairfield Bay tradition. Leading the dunk were two of the original participants, Patti Leitner and Chris Lang, helping mark more than two decades of community spirit and celebration.
Joining them in this year’s dunk were Mona Hadfield, Earnestine Gandesberry, Matthew Seeson, Tommy Davis, Tom Tangen, Tom Welch, Rhon Mohr III, Rhon Mohr Jr., Diana Mohr, and Heidi Crase.
Now in its 22nd year, the Chunky Dunk has become a staple New Year’s tradition in Fairfield Bay, blending fun, fellowship, and a bold start to the year on the shores of Greers Ferry Lake.
