Izard County Sheriff Warns Residents About Jury Duty Phone Scam

, , Comments Off on Izard County Sheriff Warns Residents About Jury Duty Phone Scam

The Izard County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents to an ongoing jury duty scam that has prompted multiple reports across the county. Authorities say scammers are calling individuals and falsely claiming they missed jury duty and now have an active arrest warrant.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, callers may demand immediate payment over the phone to “bond out” or instruct victims to travel to a specific location and call back for further instructions. Law enforcement officials stress that these claims are false.

The Izard County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that it does not issue arrest warrants for missed jury duty and will never call residents to demand payment, request financial information, or direct anyone to make bond payments by phone.

Residents who receive such calls are urged not to provide any personal or financial information, not to send money, and to hang up immediately. Anyone who believes they have been contacted by a scammer—or who may have already shared information—is encouraged to contact the Izard County Sheriff’s Office as soon as possible.

Officials ask the public to help protect the community by sharing this warning with friends and family, particularly those who may be more vulnerable to scams.
