Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders Announces Key Personnel Changes in Governor’s Office
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has announced significant personnel changes within her administration, including the departure of Deputy Chief of Staff Jamie Barker and the advancement of Policy & Legislative Affairs Director Chafer Stanley.
Barker, who has served as Deputy Chief of Staff, will leave the Governor’s Office to pursue new opportunities in the private sector. Stanley will step into the Deputy Chief of Staff role while continuing to lead policy and legislative affairs. Judd Deere will remain in his current position as Deputy Chief of Staff.
“Jamie has been an invaluable member of my team since I first announced for office—he has been part of every policy achievement of my tenure and is a man of deep integrity who I genuinely love working alongside,” said Governor Sanders. “Chafer Stanley is a strong, effective leader on the policy and legislative affairs team and I am confident he will step seamlessly into this new role and help us continue to advance Arkansas as the best state in America to live, work, and raise a family.”
Staff Biographies

Chafer Stanley
Chafer Stanley serves as the Governor’s Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs. Raised in Fayetteville, he has worked in private consulting and law firms, in state and federal courts, and as a Legislative Aide to U.S. Senator Tom Cotton. Stanley earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas in 2016 and graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 2021.

Jamie Barker
Jamie Barker currently serves as the Governor’s Deputy Chief of Staff. He previously worked as the Governor’s Director of Legislative Affairs and was Political Director for the Sarah for Governor campaign. Born and raised in Smackover, Barker has worked on campaigns for U.S. Senator Tom Cotton and former Governors Asa Hutchinson and Mike Huckabee. He is a former Political Director for the Republican Party of Arkansas, past chairman of the Arkansas Federation of Young Republicans, and a former consultant with the Arkansas-based firm JCD Consulting.
