Two people were found dead after an early-morning house fire in Izard County on December 18, 2025.
According to the Izard County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy discovered the blaze around 3:40 a.m. near the 5000 block of Arkansas Highway 56. The Franklin Fire Department, with assistance from the Melbourne Fire Department, responded to the scene.
Deputies confirmed that the occupants were believed to be inside the residence when the fire broke out. Once crews brought the fire under control, the bodies of two individuals were located inside.
The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation. The victims’ bodies will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for positive identification and to determine the cause of death.
Names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
