Forty-nine recruits have officially become Arkansas State Troopers following a graduation ceremony Thursday night at the Benton Event Center. The ceremony marks the completion of the 2025-A Arkansas State Police (ASP) Training Academy, a process that began with a competitive pool of 430 applicants.
The recruits started their 12-week, 710-hour training program on September 28 at the ASP Training Academy in Little Rock. The curriculum included criminal and traffic law, firearms proficiency, accident investigation, emergency driving, and defensive tactics—all designed to prepare new officers for the demands of law enforcement service.
During the ceremony, recruits took the oath of office, administered by North Little Rock District Judge Randy Morley.
Leaders Praise Commitment and Service
Speakers included Colonel Mike Hagar, Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Public Safety and Director of the Arkansas State Police, along with Major Roby Rhoads, Sergeant Nick Brown, and Corporal Logan Pate. Each emphasized the responsibility, professionalism, and dedication required of Arkansas State Troopers.
David Bazzel, University of Arkansas Razorback Hall of Fame athlete and state media personality, delivered the keynote address.
The event was attended by members of the ASP senior command staff, Troop and Company commanders, training cadre, Arkansas State Police Commissioners, and representatives from the Arkansas State Police Foundation.
