A beloved New Year’s tradition returns as the 2026 Chunky Dunk takes place January 1, inviting locals and visitors to kick off the year with laughter, courage, and cold water. Participants will meet at 12:00 noon at the VFW on Highway 330 South, enjoy social time, then head to the Fairfield Bay Swim Area for the lake jump at 2 p.m.
After the plunge, everyone will return to the VFW to warm up with homemade chili and desserts. Organizers emphasize that you don’t have to go in the lake to join the fun—many attend just to cheer on the brave dunkers.
