Van Buren County Deputies responded to a call on Highway 110 on Wednesday, November 6, 2025, after the discovery of a deceased male at a residence in Shirley, Arkansas.
Authorities identified the victim as Russell Branscum, 68, of Shirley. Following an on-scene investigation, the Van Buren County Criminal Investigation Division determined that the manner of death was homicide. The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division was called in to assist with the ongoing investigation.
As a result of the investigation, Brian Branscum, 31, of Shirley, was arrested in connection with the case.
Officials have stated that no additional details are being released at this time as the investigation remains active.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
