Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders In her proclamation has announced that all State of Arkansas offices and the State Capitol will be closed on Friday, November 28, 2025, in observance of Thanksgiving Day, following the official holiday on Thursday, November 27.

The closure allows state employees to celebrate the holiday with family and reflect on the blessings of the year. While offices will be closed, the State Capitol Building, currently decorated for the Christmas season, will remain open to visitors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Both the Capitol café and gift shop will remain closed during the holiday.

In her proclamation, Governor Sanders encouraged Arkansans to pause, give thanks, and spend quality time with friends and family, continuing the tradition first established by President Abraham Lincoln in 1864.

The announcement ensures that state employees and the public can enjoy a holiday weekend while maintaining limited access for visitors wishing to tour the Capitol.
