Early voting has begun for the Cave City School District’s special election on November 18th, asking residents to approve a debt restructuring plan to fund a new K-5 elementary school.

The plan would extend the current 39-mill rate without increasing taxes, generating $7.44 million and unlocking $12.7 million in state partnership funding, along with $6.1 million already saved by the district.

The proposed 72,000-square-foot school will replace the 1960 building and feature modern security, including a single-entry system, video surveillance, and a community safe room.

Superintendent Steven Green says the project is an important investment in Cave City’s students and future.

Early voting is at the Sharp County Courthouse, with polling locations open November 18th at Bailey’s in Cave City and Evening Shade Faith Assembly of God.

Residents are urged to participate and support the proposal, which improves facilities without raising the millage rate.
