Baptist Health Cancer Center–Heber Springs marked its official grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday November 14, 2025 and was attended by local officials, healthcare leaders, patients, and community members. The new center, located on the campus of Baptist Health Medical Center–Heber Springs, is designed to bring comprehensive and compassionate cancer care directly to the region.

The provider-based clinic delivers a full continuum of services—everything from early diagnosis to advanced cancer treatment—within one convenient location.
Dr. Sarah Jewell to Lead Oncology Services
Central to the new cancer center is Dr. Sarah Jewell, a board-certified hematologist and oncologist with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). A native of Pittsburg, Texas, Dr. Jewell completed her internal medicine residency at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, followed by a hematology/oncology fellowship at UAMS.
Now a resident of Heber Springs, Dr. Jewell emphasized her commitment to personalized and compassionate care.
“I take time to listen and help patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options so we can make decisions together that reflect their goals,” Jewell said. “I feel honored to support individuals and families through their difficult moments and to be invested in the health of this community.”
Dr. Jewell treats a broad range of cancers—including breast, lung, colon, lymphoma, and leukemia—as well as benign hematology conditions.
