2.3 Magnitude Earthquake Reported Near Marston; Residents Feel Light Shaking

A minor earthquake rattled parts of New Madrid County late Thursday morning.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), a 2.3 magnitude earthquake struck near Marston at 10:11 a.m. on Nov. 27, occurring at a depth of approximately five miles.

At least two residents reported feeling light shaking, consistent with small quakes common in the New Madrid Seismic Zone. No damage or injuries have been reported.

USGS encourages anyone who felt the quake to submit a report through its “Did You Feel It?” tool on the agency’s website to assist with data collection.
