On October 20, 2025, around 7:07 p.m., Cleburne County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a shooting at a residence on the 3000 block of Heber Springs Road North in Ida.
Deputies made contact with Dustin Cannon, 42, and discovered Austin Cannon deceased outside the home from apparent gunshot wounds. The scene was secured, and detectives were called to investigate.
Following interviews, scene processing, and consultation with the Prosecutor’s Office, Dustin Cannon was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He is being held at the Cleburne County Detention Center with a $1 million bond.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
