The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), in partnership with the Arkansas250 Commission, has announced the launch of Arkansas Celebrates America250 (ACA250) — a new website designed to help Arkansans of all ages engage with the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Created by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the Arkansas250 Commission is leading the state’s efforts to honor the nation’s semiquincentennial in 2026. The ACA250 website supports this mission by providing students, educators, and families with meaningful opportunities to explore history, experience Arkansas’s landscapes, and celebrate the state’s contributions to the American story.

The site features an interactive “Journey Across Arkansas” built around three central themes:

Connect: Discover the people, places, and industries that helped shape Arkansas’s role in America’s history and preserve its shared heritage.

Celebrate: Explore Arkansas’s unique traditions, values, and artistic expressions that capture the spirit of the nation.

Contribute: Inspire future generations by pursuing education, in-demand careers, and community service opportunities.

“As we celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence, it is important for students to learn about the contributions of Arkansans to American history,” said Jacob Oliva, Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Education. “These resources will give teachers the tools they need to make sure students have meaningful learning experiences.”

“ACA250 invites Arkansans of every age to connect with The Natural State—our history, our cultural heritage, and our great outdoors—while discovering the role Arkansas plays in America’s story,” said Shea Lewis, Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism and Chair of the Arkansas250 Commission. “This is a chance to celebrate the places and traditions that make Arkansas unique and to see how our landscapes and people continue to shape the nation’s past, present, and future.”

Leading up to America’s 250th anniversary in 2026, the Arkansas250 Commission will introduce a series of statewide programs, including historic markers, museum exhibits, and community celebrations across the state.
