His name is Jack Owens. He served in WWII. He turned 100 in Fairfield Bay.
The 25-year-old mayor of Fairfield Bay gave Jack a gift.
Mayor Connell issued a proclamation on September 27th, 2025. Mayor Connell also gave Mr. Owens a frame containing the proclamation and pictures of Mr. Owens in uniform. You can view photographs below.

The proclamation said:
“CITY OF FAIRFIELD BAY PROCLAMATION FOR JACK OWENS AFTER 100 YEARS
Jack Owens is celebrating his 100th birthday in Fairfield Bay today.
Owens is part of the “Greatest Generation.” His actions show this.
Owens served as a First Scout in the U.S. Army during World War II. He fought in three European countries and the Pacific, earning the distinguished honor of two Purple Hearts.
Not only has Jack Owens lived an extensive life, but he continues to live a connected life with his community.
Residents and officials of Fairfield Bay alike are honored to call Jack Owens a friend and neighbor.
Together, we recognize and praise his contributions both to our nation and our city. We are blessed to have him as a role model and resident.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Seth Connell, Mayor of Fairfield Bay, do hereby proclaim this day in honor of Jack Owens, celebrating his 100th birthday and commending his extraordinary life of service, courage, and vitality.
