The Commissioner of State Lands (COSL) has announced the results of a recent regional tax-delinquent property auction in Faulkner, Cleburne, and Van Buren Counties, generating more than $287,000 for local governments.

The auction attracted 101 registered bidders, who purchased 137 of the 504 available parcels for a total of $287,317.78.

Auction Results by County

  • Cleburne County: 101 parcels offered, 47 sold for $48,647.19; $9,234.74 in taxes collected

  • Faulkner County: 23 parcels offered, 18 sold for $164,958.52; $23,005.07 in taxes collected

  • Van Buren County: 380 parcels offered, 72 sold for $73,712.07; $20,079.19 in taxes collected

The auction featured parcels with taxes delinquent since 2020, providing an opportunity for counties to recover unpaid taxes and return properties to the active tax rolls.

“Most owners redeem their property by paying delinquent taxes; we only auction a fraction of parcels certified for delinquent taxes,” said Commissioner Tommy Land. “While we hope owners redeem their property, it is vital that parcels return to the county’s active tax rolls.”

Funding Local Services and Schools

The COSL office disburses all collected taxes and interest to the counties, whether through redemption or sale. In 2024, the office returned more than $18.7 million to Arkansas school districts and county governments, including $727,896.42 to Cleburne, Faulkner, and Van Buren Counties, funding critical local services like schools and roads.

Turnback Amounts:

  • Cleburne County: $138,351.86

  • Faulkner County: $415,385.73

  • Van Buren County: $174,158.83

How to Redeem or Purchase Unsold Parcels

Property owners may still redeem unsold parcels online at www.cosl.org using a credit or debit card, or by calling 501-324-9422 to request a Petition to Redeem. Redemption does not transfer ownership; it simply makes property taxes current.

Unsold parcels will be available after 30 days through an online auction. Interested buyers can view the Post-Auction Sales List at www.cosl.org.
